As I’m not teaching this week (and it’s my birthday) I’m having a really lazy time. Poole is seething with holidaymakers enjoying the occasional bursts of sunshine, although the wind is quite cold. I avoided the scooter gathering on the Quay on Saturday as I’m not a fan of the noise and fumes. More my style was a walk in Upton Country Park. Quite soggy under foot after the recent heavy rain, which suited the ducks, and there was a good show of helibores. The promenade which runs the length of Poole Quay extends about a mile around the harbour.
Past the fishing boats, the old lifeboat house and Baiter Park (where we live), all the way round to meet with the road to Sandbanks. Here you will probably find Harry Redknapp sulking after his recent defeat by Sunderland. Today I’m off to Gillingham (hard G) to look at the house we nearly bought, on the bank of the Stour.
